A systematic analysis of creativity as a factor of personality development in modern transformations of pedagogical practices is conducted. Today, when humanity has entered the "knowledge society", when the basic structures of life are transformed, deepening its discontinuity, the classical pedagogical model is clearly outdated. If an individual wants to meet the challenges of time in an economic, cultural, social sense, one must constantly learn, seek new ideas and meanings, work on himself, even at adulthood. Therefore, it is necessary to learn not only to acquire knowledge, but also to learn to be modern, which implies originality, uniqueness, independence, which should become the norm. Nowadays, it requires high intellectual "flexibility", the ability to operate reserves of knowledge, not to have far-fetched, utopian, but real competencies. Conditions that provide a high level of development of personality abilities, indifferent attitude to one's own abilities and self-development have been clarified. The role of creative cultural and historical memory in the process of developing the creative abilities of the individual is revealed. The difference between creative memory and reproductive memory is analyzed. As a result of the study of socio-cultural prerequisites for the creation of creativity as a universal way of discovering the fundamental foundations of human being, it has been proved that in our time the problem of imagination, fantasy and creativity is becoming a central problem of both socio-philosophical theory and pedagogical practice. This trend is due to the expansion of the exploitation of creativity in an innovative economy, when imagination becomes the most important resource for economic development.
