Elimination of the main reasons for the loss making of sheep breeding is an urgent task. The analysis of global trends in the development of sheep farming is carried out. The features of the industry functioning and the current market conditions have been studied. The efficiency of production activities of sheep farms is analyzed. The main reasons for the unprofitability of the industry are established and the search for effective measures to eliminate they are carried out. Based on the study of world trends in the development of the sheep breeding industry and monitoring the current state of this industry in Ukraine, an economic assessment of the sheep production market is carried out. Economic data were obtained and an analytical report was prepared regarding the status and development strategy of sheep breeding in Ukraine. For the first time, a set of measures has been developed to increase the efficiency of sheep breeding, which are formed taking into account global trends and the requirements of the modern domestic market, the introduction of these measures will stabilize the state of the industry.
