Consequently, the selection of the material the students are supposed to learn is to conform to a particular genre. Every language reflects a specific worldview peculiar for a certain nation. Therefore, the students should master a new perspective of the world instead of learning words or grammar structures. A language speaker memorizes constructions, i.e. linguistic units together with the immediate context, which obliterates the differences between grammar and vocabulary. Consequently, the novelty of this study consists in new ways of language acquisition – instead of memorizing separate words, students are supposed to master constructions, i.e. words together with the immediate context. This approach is called usage-based. The object of the research is the process of teaching English to Foreign language faculty students of senior years on the specialty Philology. Germanic Languages and Literatures (including translation), primary – English and Secondary Education. Language and Literature (English). The subject of this research is cognitive and rhetorical method of language teaching and learning in the course if learners’ constant exposure to discourse. The aim is to study the process of teaching English to Foreign Languages Faculty senior students and to determine the methods and techniques of cognitive and rhetorical approach to mastering the language through its constant use in discourse.
