The purpose of the study is to generalize the methodological principles and develop practical recommendations for improving the management of agro-industrial formations, taking into account the peculiarities of their production activities. Research methods - in the process of research the following methods were used: general scientific (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, etc.), monographic (during the study of the categories of "management"); abstract-logical (in the formulation of approaches, conclusions and generalizations of scientists on the research topic, as well as in substantiating the main approaches to improving management in agricultural enterprises). The main results of research: the paper highlights the peculiarities of the functioning of modern enterprises in market conditions; the category of "enterprise management" is considered in two planes - wide and narrow and the whole arsenal of concepts, methods, management tools acquired by scientists and practitioners; the dependence of financial and economic indicators of agroholdings on the scale of large-scale agricultural formations was revealed and it was established that the higher level of efficiency of smaller agroholdings is explained by a more compact location of production facilities and, accordingly, higher level of management due to lack of separate middle management. Based on this, we believe that to increase the level of efficiency of enterprises in any sector of the economy and agricultural holdings is necessary in terms of improving their management models. It is proved that focusing on market variability, the future development of agricultural enterprises requires the mandatory use of strategic management tools.
