The work discloses theoretical-methodical bases for scientific study of regional social infrastructure as a frame for human development; social infrastructure as an object of social-geographic studies; and sectoral structure of social infrastructure. Major sectors of social infrastructure are put under analysis (the case of the Chernivtsi Oblast). The latest dynamics in the number of tourists is presented, geography of tourism flows and tourists’ motives are established, and major economic figures of tourism activity are analyzed. Geographical aspects and specificities of language situation as indicator of assimilation processes in the Western Region of Ukraine are disclosed. Particular attention is given to language composition of nine biggest ethnic groups (making 99,5% of total inhabitants) in the West-Ukrainian Region. Geographical aspects of manifestation of ethnic processes (evolutional, evolutional-transformational, transformational) in the Western Region of Ukraine are analyzed.
