The department staff has been investigating the new accomplishments in the field of the Theory of Literature, related to the issues of text analysis and interpretive segment of text poetics. They have also been considering the methods of teaching in higher education institutions and determining the genesis of new genre forms in the world literary practice. Particular emphasis has been laid on the analysis of new tendencies in Literary Studies, associated with the contemporary literary methodology, as well as on the factor of allotropy in researching emigrational literary heritage. In addition, much attention has been paid to the principles of genre identification and its basic modifications. Ukrainian Literary Studies has an opportunity for involving the above achievements in its operational field, thus changing the methodological fundamentals of theoretical thinking. The implementation of new tendencies has been performed in the course of thematic conferences on the issues of contemporary discourse, as well as through conducting new literary studies and publishing scientific articles, manuals and monographs. The above provisions point at the significance of the essence of the current philological situation, as well as at the importance of considerable changes in numerous methodological priorities.
