Object: Graphene-like low-dimensional transition metals dichalcogenides (LD-TMDs) with controlled polar and electronic properties.
Aim: To create an analytical theory of polar and electronic properties of LD-TMDs and its application for forecasting and optimizing the properties of LD-TMDs.
Methodologies: Landau-Ginzburg-Devonshire theory, elasticity theory, electrodynamics, semiconductor theory, symmetry theory and molecular dynamics will be used to describe the polar and electronic properties of LD-TMDs, scanning probe microscopy, optical, IR and Raman spectroscopy, in particular surface-enhanced vibrational spectroscopy.
Novelty: The successful implementation of the project will lead to a self-consistent analytical theory to describe the key mechanisms and physical nature of polar, electronic and structural properties of LD-TMD.
During the first stage:
1.1. An analytical review of the literature on "Electrophysical, structural and spectral properties of LD-TMD" is prepared.
1.2. The symmetry of single-layer MX2 is calculated and the connections between symmetrical, structural, spectral and electrophysical properties of MoS2, WS2, WSe2 and MoTe2 are determined.
1.3. Within the modified Landau-Ginzburg-Devonshire approach, structural phase diagrams of LD-TMD MyM'1-yX2 calculated analytically for the variable fraction "y" of the component M from 0 to 1.
1.4. The molecular dynamics (MD) of the interaction of two-dimensional MX2 surfaces with biological molecules in vacuum is performed. The mechanisms of interaction of two - dimensional MX2 surfaces with biological molecules in vacuum are analyzed.
1.5. Experimental studies of the structural properties of LD MX2 using scanning probe microscopy (SPM) and the spectral properties of MX2 using surface-enhanced IR absorption (SEIRA) were performed.
The analysis opens up prospects for LD-TMD as a basic element in high-density non-volatile memory cells, field-effect transistors, and biomedicine.
