The aim of the work is to find out the main strategies and tactics of intercultural communication and translation, which ensure successful intercultural communication, prevent communicative deviations and develop the skills of adequate interlingual transfer. Research methods: descriptive, introspective, cognitive modeling, translation and contextual analysis. The results obtained. A theoretical model of intercultural communication has been developed. Multicultural, intercultural and transcultural aspects of intercultural relations are highlighted. A number of translators illustrate how this model works on the example of their translation activities. The linguistic personalities of Ukrainian poets and translators Ivan Franko, Mykola Lukash and Bohdan Kravtsiv have been considered, and a translation analysis of translations of their poems has been performed. The types of communicative deviations in intercultural communication and their possible consequences for translation have been analyzed. The role of Ivan Franko in establishing intercultural, interethnic and interethnic dialogue has been studied. Four international conferences have been held in cooperation with the Association of Ukrainian Germanists, at which more than 40 reports on the problems of strategies and tactics of intercultural communication and translation have been delivered. One doctoral dissertation was defended, articles and translations have been published in professional journals. In cooperation with the Austrian and German Academic Exchange Services, three international research projects have been implemented, as a result of which two Internet pages have been published – with a database of lexical borrowings from the German language in Ukrainian and the Literary Guide Lviv in German.
