Pidstryhach of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 A methodology for numerical analyzing the stress-strain state of solid propellant rocket engines at various stages of their life cycle using the ANSYS finite element method system and evaluating on this basis the strength of solid propellant grain firmly joining with the motor case has been developed.For this purpose, mathematical models have been considered that determine the thermomechanical behavior of the materials of the structural elements of the engine –the motor case, highly elastic internal heat-protective coating and solid propellant grain. The methodology determines the methods of application of these models of materials when creating a program for calculating the stress-strain state of the engine using the ANSYS system. A method for estimating the strength of the solid propellant grain is proposed. It takes into account the loss of adhesion between the oxidant particles and binder in the body of the grain, which occurs at a strain that is less of its value of global destruction of the grain. The developed methodology was tested on a number of test tasks, which confirmed its effectiveness. Conducted numerical studies have revealed some features that determine the influence of the conditions of grain joining with the motor case and the geometry of the channel on the stress concentration and the local strength of the grain.   Product Description popup.authors Drobenko Bohdan D.
