Entomofauna of Ukraine: inventory and identification, phylogeny, morphology, and taxonomy in the scopes of the world fauna

 Objects of research: insects: celipherous orthoptera, planthoppers, beetles: cicindelids, jewel-beetles, tenebrionids, weevils, short-winged mold beetles; moths: nothodontines, leafrollers, plutelids; Diptera: sciarids, picture-winged flies; pyrgotids, tachiniscids, fruit flies, hoverflies; fossil insects in amber inclusions; stock zoological collections. Purpose: fundamental study of the taxonomic composition of the entomofauna of Ukraine and adjacent territories, ecological and zoogeographical features, phylogenetic relationships and speciation of the most important groups of insects. Research method: general entomological. Main research results: Three new subfamilies, one tribe, one genus and 23 new species of recent insects and two subfamilies, one tribe, 41 genera and 102 species of insects and some other fossil invertebrates from amber are described. The species and genus composition of the studied groups in the fauna of Ukraine and its regions (celipherous orthoptera, plutelid moths, weevils, sciarids), the Western Palearctic (fruit flies) and the world fauna of the pyrgotid, fruit, picture-winged flies, orthoptera). New diagnostic morphological and ecological characters of the Coleoptera and Diptera have been revealed. The nomenclature of a number of species, subgenera and genera (Diptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera) has been clarified. Keys for identification genera, subgenera and species (argirestiid moths and ipomeutides, pyrgotid flies, fruit flies and picture-winged flies), classifications (picture-winged flies, pyrgotids and fruit flies) have been improved, and the morphoevolutionary nature of Lehr fields has been clarified. The importance of trophic adaptation for the formation of phytocenoses of the environment (phytophagous moths) is analyzed; the current state of species diversity, pest status and economic importance of phytophages was studied. The PHP site of the National Biodiversity Network of Ukraine was developed and tested.
