Sokolovsky» popup.description2 The purpose of the research is to develop the scientific basis for the use of multispectral space scanning data as a basic information for assessing the spatial differentiation of the main properties of soils for local monitoring studies. The object of research is the lateral heterogeneity of local soil cover structures of agricultural lands. The main research method is computer methods of data processing, in particular geographic information systems. Theoretical results - methodology of interpretation of multispectral space scanning data on soil indicators and properties for local monitoring studies, which determines the theoretical and methodological bases of thematic decoding of space images to determine and describe local soil cover structures. Practical results - the latest soil maps for test sites, refinement of the algorithm for processing space images and expert evaluation of decoding results. Novelty - the use of geostatistical methods of data analysis both at the stage of image pre-processing and at the stage of verification of the results of their classification by joint analysis with geostatistical estimates, obtained from ground, sample surveys within test sites. Efficiency - reducing the volume and estimated cost of field and in-house work, increasing the representativeness of these observations of soil cover for agricultural needs of land users.
