To investigate the peculiarities of determination of the youth citizenship competence development by the discourse and practices of the social environment 16 instruments including 12 author's methods have been applied. The identified citizenship competence indicators have been used to construct the following research instruments: 1) a questionnaire to: а) determine the level of the Internet participation; b) investigate social interest as a factor of youth citizenship competence development; c) explore peculiarities of the family parent-children interaction, which determine child citizenship competence development; d) study the influence of social media on youth citizenship competence development; 2) author's versions of the CD methodology to determine: a) compliance of personal characteristics and abilities of the future teachers with the criteria of civic competence; b) peculiarities of the social environment influence on youth citizenship competences; 3) a scheme and criteria of the qualitative content analysis of the participation of the members of the groups established in the social media in order to implement socially oriented projects; 4) a matrix for evaluation of the Internet interaction influence on youth citizenship competence development; 5) in depth interview guides. The survey conducted in the course of the empirical study involved 1482 respondents including 40 secondary school students, 1400 university students, and 42 university lecturers from different regions of Ukraine.
