The study of terms has progressed significantly in recent decades, especially with the advent of socioterminology. The project aims to identify the main trends in the development of terminology of modern European languages of the late 20th - early 21st century, considering the latest approaches in terminology and terminography; to develop the concept and principles of a comprehensive study of the terminology of modern languages, based on such approaches as system-structural, descriptive, genetic, areal and sociolinguistic. The result of the project should be the publication of a collective monograph of the same name; creation of glossaries of the latest terms from separate branches of knowledge in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. The development of the principles of analysis of terms within the scientific discourse from the standpoint of the stated approaches will contribute to the expansion of the methodological base of scientific research. Theoretical conclusions and methodological developments may be of interest to terminologists and terminographers. The results of the study have the prospect of practical application in the teaching of foreign languages for students, postgraduates, scientists, especially given the specifics of modern scientific discourse. Glossaries of terms may be of interest to professionals and a wide range of speakers interested in language issues and language culture. Conclusions on the role of language policy in shaping the terminology of different languages can be the basis for recommendations in the development of language policy and standardization of terminology.
