To ensure the efficient operation of railway transport, the rationality of freight car designs is of great importance. Existing cars, designed in the 50s, have unsatisfactory dynamic properties and technical and economic parameters. The aim of the work is to study the possibility of increasing the size of 20-foot containers, provided that traffic safety when fitting the platform into the size. The possible sizes of cars depend on the dimensions established on the railways. The meaning of dimensional restrictions is to ensure the safety of railway transport. For this purpose, in particular, it is necessary that serviceable rolling stock in all cases could not collide with various stationary structures built near the railway track, or with other rolling stock located on a parallel track.
