The object of research is the insurance sector of the Ukrainian economy and innovative directions of its development. The subject of the study is a set of financial relations that arise in the process of functioning of the insurance sector of the economy of Ukraine between its subjects. The purpose of the study is to develop proposals for innovative areas of development of the insurance sector of Ukraine in order to ensure the economic development of Ukraine based on the use of the management technologies in the context of European integration processes. In accordance with the defined purpose in the course of research the following tasks were solved:  evaluate the effectiveness of changes in state regulation of the insurance sector and identify areas for further reform;  substantiate the need to introduce insurance medicine in Ukraine on the basis of a combination of compulsory and voluntary insurance;  form methodological bases of application of the cost-oriented approach in management of the insurance company;  develop recommendations for the introduction of innovative insurance services that will promote integration into the international insurance market;  study the impact of information asymmetry on the fulfillment of obligations under insurance contracts and ensuring information openness of the market. Research methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the work was a set of general theoretical and special methods of scientific research, which ensured the completeness, versatility and objectivity of its results. The expected result is the defense of dissertations, publication of monographs and scientific articles, introduction of innovative support in the educational process, providing practical recommendations to all stakeholders of the insurance sector. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is due to a systematic approach to the study of the role of the insurance sector in the economy, improving the efficiency of its operation.
