Nowadays an active search of the ways of improving and modernization of the process of teaching of the native language as foreign at the high school proceeds. Modern teachers face the task of learning and improving the most effective methods and technologies of teaching of the discipline «Ukrainian language as foreign» as well as forming of the foreign professional competency which may be defined as the integrative personal and professional formation which is realised through the psychological, technical and operational readiness of the personality to fulfil the professional activity effectively including the foreign language usage in the context of the foreign culture. In a general way the structure of the foreign professional competence may be designed together with such components as the competencies belonging to the linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic levels. Lingual competency counts on the system of knowledge, skills and habits to fulfil the foreign communication in the typical situations of the educational, professional and cultural spheres; sociocultural competency includes the background knowledge, linguistic and speech material necessary for the revealing of the sociocultural information as well as speaking etiquettes formulas; professional competency which foresees the sub-skills and skills of the foreign professionally relevant information searching and operating, knowledge of the special terminological vocabulary, reading skills as well as ability to tease out the central idea in the special texts.
