The object of research is a set of theoretical and practical bases of formation of the market of organic agricultural products. The aim is to identify the optimal ways and mechanisms of realization of competitive potential of producers of organic food products in Ukraine on the basis of studying the modern world experience of formation of organic agricultural production, determining the state and prospects of its development in our country. Research methods - analytical analysis and synthesis, generalization using a systematic approach. The report presents the result of a study of current trends in the production of organic agricultural products in Ukraine and the world and its legalization. The preconditions for the formation of the domestic legal framework for organic agricultural production are highlighted. The modern tendencies of distribution in the world of alternative methods of conducting ecologically-oriented agricultural production as perspective directions of development are investigated. The basic concept of organic production of agricultural products as a method that excludes the use of chemically synthesized fertilizers, plant and animal protection products, the use of genetically modified organisms are analyzed. It is noted that the development of organic agricultural production is slowed by a number of problems, including problems of legislative support and political dialogue, the functioning of the internal market, the isolation of science from production and lack of qualified professionals, communication and promotion and more.
