Research methods - historical and literary, poetic, comparative, analytical, synthetic, generalization, biographical. Scientific novelty of the research: for the first time the problem of image and symbol-archetype is comprehensively studied, novels by John Okada and Nobuo Kojima are considered in detail in the comparative aspect, text computer analysis is performed for the first time with KHCoder to establish the adequacy of non-equivalent vocabulary. The materials of the report can be used for further analysis of symbols-archetypes in the poetry of the Tang and Song dynasties and in the theoretical and poetic analysis of the image of the "lost generation".
