The aim of the study was to study the features of pathophysiological and pathomorphological mechanisms of cardiovascular damage and the formation of coronary atherosclerosis in patients with diabetes. Amosova NAMS of Ukraine "for the period 2017-2020, we can say that the incidence of diabetes in patients with cardiovascular disease is 9.2%, ie every tenth patient with cardiac pathology has a violation of carbohydrate metabolism. In the study of the activity of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) for the first time it was shown that metformin increases the activity of AMPK in the lymphocytes of patients with type 2 diabetes. Increased activity of AMPK in blood cells indicates a possible universal effect of metformin and dapagliflozin on all body tissues. Elevated plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) are associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
