An analytical review of existing solutions related to the parts repairing automation by electric arc surfacing has been performed and the concept of building an adaptive robotic system is proposed: geometric adaptation is implemented using technical vision, technological adaptation - by using mathematical models of MIG/MAG surfacing. Finite element modeling of the MIG/MAG surfacing process was performed: thermo cycles were obtained and structural transformations in the base and weld metals were analyzed. Recommendations for the heat input control during multi-pass surfacing have been prepared. A specialized laser-television sensor with a viewing angle of 360º has been created, designed to measure the geometric parameters of the inner surfaces of worn cylindrical parts, and the corresponding signal processing algorithms for automatic parts defecting have been implemented. The main controller of the robotic system has been developed, which is built on the basis of a 4-core processor module. Mathematical support of the system has been developed, which provides interaction between industrial robot, welding equipment, sensor subsystem and operator. In the automatic mode, the geometry of the repair areas was scanned, the motion trajectory was formed, and multi-pass multilayer surfacing at speed 14.4 m/h was performed. The obtained macro grinds demonstrated the absence of defects and uniformity of the deposited metal layers properties, which confirmed the adequacy of the proposed approach. The work results can be used in the creation of adaptive robotic sections for the parts repairing by arc surfacing in the mechanical engineering, railway and energy industries.
