Research subject: singling out language units for lexicographic sources, methods, strategies and factors of rendering non-equivalent vocabulary and realia in Ukrainian translations. Research purpose: determining the approaches to compiling monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, identifying lexical units of English texts to be presented in bilingual dictionaries. Research methods: descriptive method, dictionary definition analysis, component, translation, and comparative analyses. Results and their novelty: possibilities of compiling terminological dictionaries, countrystudy dictionaries and glossaries, organization of vocabulary in the countrystudy dictionary and glossary were investigated, which is new, as there are no English-Ukrainian countrystudy dictionaries in Ukraine. The results are highlighted in publications indexed in the Scopus database, textbooks, academic articles. Characteristics of the research results: the peculiarities of using vocabulary in compiling terminological and countrystudy dictionaries were investigated. Research significance and practical application: the results are valuable for lexicography and translation studies, can be used to train specialists in the system of higher education, including lectures on linguistic and translation disciplines, when writing diploma thesis. Scope: lexicography, translation, training of applicants for the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) degree of higher education in the specialty 035 Philology. Conclusions, proposals for the object of study development and the necessity of further research: an urgent need to develop English-Ukrainian countrystudy and terminological dictionaries, which determines the necessity of further research.
