Research objects: Asteraceae, Polygonaceae, Brassicaceae, Urticaceae, Plantaginaceae, and Lamiaceae. Research methods - microscopy, UV-spectroscopy, thin layer chromatography, liquid chromatography, potentiometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, microbiological and biological. Existing methods of analysis of phytopreparations mostly do not respond the modern requirements of the Pharmacopoeia. For most medicinal plants growing in Ukraine, pharmacopoeia articles have not been developed or they are difficult to use and they are not specific. This does not allow the identification and quantification of individual components of the mixture. Phytochemical studies of the content and accumulation of biologically active substances in species of the families Asteraceae, Polygonaceae, Brassicaceae, Urticaceae, Plantaginaceae, and Lamiaceae, growing in Ukraine, allows to search for promising species for medical use and manufacture of phytopreparations
