The purpose of the work is to improve the scientific and methodological provisions regarding the environmental and economic justification for the use of small hydropower facilities and the management of their functioning in the context of the implementation of the concept of sustainable development.The object of research is a system of environmentally oriented management of small hydropower facilities based on the multi-purpose use of territorial natural and economic complexes.The subject of the study is the economic relations that arise between business entities and the regional management system for the effective use of the natural resource potential of territories that are in the areas of influence of small hydropower facilities and can be considered as a multi-purpose resource.Research methods. The methodological basis of the provisions of economic theory, management theory, analysis of scientific research of domestic and foreign experts in the field of environmental economics, as well as the work of leading scientists and practitioners in the field of hydropower.The main idea of the research work is to substantiate the principles and methods for the development and implementation of programs for the multi-purpose regional development of small hydropower based on the creation of territorial natural and economic complexes.
