Object of research: the process of professional training of specialists in the social sphere in institutions of higher education. The purpose of the work is to study the problem of professional training of specialists in the social sphere in modern pedagogical science and practice; generalize the main approaches to the organization of the educational process in institutions of higher education; to analyze the problem of prevention of social orphanhood in the conditions of the territorial group of the city as an essential component of social work; determine the possibilities of using media educational technologies in the process of professional training of specialists in the social sphere. Research methods: general scientific; specifically scientific; empirical methods. The results obtained. Characterized: the essence and content of the concepts "professional training", "professional education", "technologies of professional training", the principles of organizing professional training of specialists in the social sphere in a higher education institution. Analyzed: the problem of prevention of social orphanhood as an important component of social work in modern conditions; the place of media-psychological technologies as a factor in the formation of value orientations of future specialists in the social sphere. Proposed: practical recommendations for the use of media-psychological technologies in the process of professional training of specialists in the social sphere; the content of the organization of prevention of social orphanhood in the territorial community of the city, ways and methods of vocational training of specialists in the social sphere to carry out such activities.
