The object of research is the monuments of architecture, urban planning, archeology, urban environment significant historical buildings and their processes adaptation to modern usage.
The research purpose is the complex methodology of research of monuments; development of recommendations for protection, conservation, restoration, museumification, adaptation of historical monuments to modern function. Research methods are – the methods of architectural archeology, field research, graphic and computer modeling, questionnaires, factor analysis; methods of the monument’s documentation rehabilitation. Archaeological research was conducted and information data was obtained on the Knight's Tower in the defensive complex of the Medzhibizh Fortress constructive features. Options for reconstruction and layout of the spatial planning solution of Scythian housing were developed on the basis of experimental archaeological research at the Belsk settlement reserve. The method of creating the concept of a virtual museum was developed. Methodology for determining the adaptation potential of historic buildings developed and tested in real architectural and design practice. Important for their adaptation to the function of the restaurant characteristics of buildings established and justified. Classification features are systematized and architectural monuments and urban planning identification methods developed in the context of creating an electronic database of immovable heritage. The electronic database of immovable heritage provides opportunities for accounting, documentation and replenishment of information about monuments, along with the possibility of using this information in management, monument’s resquing research and design activities.
