The general provisions of the UN Convention on Combating Land Degradation and Desertification, indicators of desertification processes, including remote An overview of modern satellite systems that can be used to assess land degradation is made. GIS/DDD technologies for monitoring and assessing land degradation are given. Measures to combat desertification in erosion-prone agricultural landscapes have been systematized.
The recommendations can be used by scientists, teachers of higher educational institutions, specialists in the field of agronomy, ecology, and the economics of nature use in the process of using satellite data, preparing and making management decisions at various hierarchical levels of state regional central authorities and management, including the Ministry of Economic Development and of Agriculture of Ukraine, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
