The existence of the compound Tl2CdSnSe4 was confirmed. For the first time, a successful synthesis of a Tl2CdSnSe4 single crystal was carried out. For the first time, the formation of new quaternary compounds Tl2CdGe3Se8 and three isostructural chalcogenides Tl2CdGeSe4, Tl2CdSiTe4, Tl2HgSiTe4 was established. The composition of Tl2CdGe3Se8 was confirmed by SEM and EDS. The crystal structure of compounds of the type Tl2VIIDIVX4 was determined. A comprehensive experimental and theoretical study of electronic properties and optical constants was performed. The obtained experimental XPS measurements of the crystal surface of Tl2CdSnSe4, Tl2HgSnS4 irradiated with Ar+ ions of medium energy, and the data of theoretical DFT calculations show that, despite the rather dangerous component chemical elements, thallium and cadmium, the crystal surface is quite stable and in combination with the corresponding width of the band gap zones makes the studied quaternary selenide a very promising semiconductor for use in thin-film solar cells and optoelectronics, as well as in highly efficient photocatalytic devices. A number of quasi-ternary systems of the Tl2Se–Ga(In)2Se3–SnSe2 type were studied using the methods of physical and chemical analysis, and their isothermal sections at 520 K in the full concentration interval were constructed. The existence of 2 new compounds Tl2Ga2SnSe6 and Tl5,6InSn6,7S17,6 was established. It was established that the investigated crystals are photosensitive materials, which allows the use of these crystals for the development of photoresistors, photodiodes and other optoelectronic devices. Two new selenides Tl2Ga2SnSe6 and Tl2Ga2GeSe6 were synthesized. Studies of NLO properties of the third order have shown that the generation of the third harmonic is sensitive to external photoinducing irradiation.
