The complex moduli technique is used to describe the viscoelastic properties of the shell material under harmonic loading. Mechanical stationary and thermal behavior of both steady-state and transient thermal response of the shell are investigated. Distributions of kinematic and force parameters as well as temperature along the axial coordinate are calculated. The evolution of the maximum temperature for differ-ent prestress levels is studied. The temperature-time response is used to predict the shell failure due to overheating and to estimate the structure endurance under cyclic loading. The influence of the prestress level on the fatigue life prediction of the shell is investigated in details. A 3-D problem of the linear theory of viscoelasticity on stress concentration in a transversely isotropic structural member (finite plate with a circular hole) has been solved. The changes with time of in-plane and transverse stresses along the concentration line are illustrated. Solving a similar problem with a pre-existed crack is preceded by an analysis of incubation and quasi-static propagation of a crack in a viscoelastic orthotropic plate under plane stress conditions. The algorithm built for the plain problem is extended to the 3-D problem of delayed fracture. A comparison of the solutions of the plane problem and the corresponding 3-D problem for some thicknesses of the plate is carried out. Product Description popup.authors Bogdanova Olga S.
