A new method for determining the parameters of the cohesive zone in a blast furnace equipped with means of controlling the temperature distribution of the gas flow and/or the backfill surface is proposed. The method is based on a systematized collection of improved mathematical models of the blast furnace loading process and the formation of high-temperature properties of mixtures of charge components in its various zones, models for determining the parameters of the charge column in the dry zone and the area of the melting surface, which are combined with a new method of determining the softening and melting surfaces. A criterion for evaluating the shape and position of the cohesive zone in the blast furnace under the current technological conditions of melting has been developed. Studies have been carried out to establish the relationships between the parameters of the plastic zone and the gas temperature above the surface of the charge backfill, the ore load and the composition of the iron ore mixture in the ring zones of the blast furnace. Based on the results of the conducted research, a method of justified adjustment of the characteristics of the charge loading regime has been developed, which ensures the formation of rational parameters of the cohesive zone in order to increase the efficiency of melting. The new method has the prospect of being used as part of expert support systems for decision-making in blast furnace smelting management. Based on the results of the work, 8 articles were published, including 3 articles in journals that are indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science, 2 articles in a professional publication, and 1 monograph was published.
