Registration Date 06-01-2023 Organization Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 During the reporting period the researchers carried out the following work: 1) summarized and systematized the theoretical provisions of the research, in particular, regarding the development of a methodology for competence-oriented teaching foreign languages for students of 5-6 grades of gymnasiums based on the integrated mastery of a foreign language and the culture of the target language country, by means of speech situations; 2) corrected the content of the methodological manual “Methods of competence-oriented teaching foreign languages to students of 5–6 grades of gymnasiums” based on the results of its approval and in accordance with the main normative documents of the New Ukrainian School and the model curriculum on foreign languages for grades 5-9 of general secondary education institutions; 3) analyzed and summarized the results of the experiment on competence-oriented teaching foreign languages for students of 5-6 grades of gymnasiums (in particular, the scientific and theoretical provisions set out in the methodical manual and methodological recommendations regarding the modelling and organization of the content of competence-oriented teaching); 4) tested the conceptual provisions for the construction of the content and structure of a school textbook of a foreign language, outlined in the content of the monograph “School textbook of a foreign language: design, construction, approbation”; 5) implemented the scientific results of the research into educational practice, carried out their monitoring and found the social effect of the implementation of the results, which consists in improving the quality of teaching foreign languages in 5-6 classes of gymnasiums in accordance with today's requirements regarding the levels of foreign language proficiency as a means of intercultural communication and in the context of a competence-oriented approach to education, in creating prerequisites for successful foreign language learning in gymnasiums.
