Purpose: to substantiate the theoretical principles of designing an educational environment using augmented and virtual reality tools and to develop a methodical system for its use in general secondary education institutions. Research methods: analysis of the state of problem research in scientific publications; generalization of domestic and foreign experience in designing and using educational environments using augmented and virtual reality tools in general secondary education institutions; analysis of basic terms and concepts and the relationship between them; method of comparative analysis; selection of augmented and virtual reality technologies appropriate for designing an educational environment using augmented and virtual reality tools in general secondary education institutions; studying the practical experience of designing an educational environment using the means of augmented and virtual reality in general secondary education institutions; modeling process for the development of a model of the educational environment using augmented and virtual reality tools in general secondary education institutions, diagnostic methods (questionnaires, testing), processing of the obtained data using mathematical statistics methods. The main results obtained during the research are as follows: 1. A model of a digital educational environment using augmented and virtual reality tools was theoretically substantiated and developed, taking into account efficiency and safety; 2. A methodical system of using augmented and virtual reality tools in the educational environment of general secondary education institutions to improve the quality of education has been developed and described.
