The purpose of the work: On the basis of clinical, laboratory, instrumental, biochemical, and molecular genetic studies, to evaluate and distribute variant alleles of the C262T polymorphism of the CAT gene encoding catalase in children living in radioactively contaminated areas. Research methods: clinical, biochemical, instrumental, molecular genetic, statistical. Results and their novelty. A study of the ventilation capacity of the lungs revealed a higher frequency of bronchial hyperreactivity in the groups of children - residents of the RZT compared to the control group. The obtained results of the study of markers of oxidative stress in children - residents of RZT, who did not have bronchial and lung pathology and patients with bronchial asthma, may indicate the intensification of free radical oxidation processes in the body, as indicated by changes in the activity of antioxidants - catalase, ceruloplasmin, superoxide dismutase. When studying the genotypes and alleles of the polymorphic marker C262T of the catalase gene in children - residents of the RZT, no significant differences were found between the indicators of the frequency distribution of genotypes and alleles in comparison with the reference values of the indicators of the control group. Bronchial hyperreactivity was likely to occur more often among children living in RZT in СT heterozygotes of the C262T polymorphism of the catalase gene than in СС homozygotes. The study of associative relationships between genotypes and alleles of the C262T polymorphism of the catalase gene and indicators of the ventilation capacity of the lungs revealed direct correlations with the presence of the СT genotype and the T allele and inverse correlations between the frequency of bronchial hyperreactivity and the presence of the СС genotype and the C.
