Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2 A retrospective comparison of the diet of elderly people before and during quarantine restrictions revealed the following changes - the number of subjects who did not eat breakfast and had more snacks increased. The diets were unbalanced due to the increased proportion of fats, high content of easily digestible carbohydrates and insufficient content of dietary fiber. No significant differences were found between the diets in terms of the absolute amount of essential nutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates, dietary fibers, essential minerals and vitamins) and energy. For the period from the middle of 2021 to February 2022, the diet, the composition of the main microbial types of stool samples, and the trace element composition of the hair of the elderly were analyzed, depending on the presence of a history of the transferred coronavirus disease. The diets of patients who fell ill with Covid-19 did not differ in terms of the structure of consumption of the main nutrients and energy. The decrease in the content of actinobacteria is a consequence of the transferred infection and treatment with antibacterial drugs. The detected changes indicate intestinal dysbiosis after the disease and require nutritional correction. Microelement analysis of hair composition revealed insufficient supply of zinc. Deficiency of calcium content in hair was also detected. The content of iron and selenium was also insufficient. The vast majority of those examined (93.5%) had an insufficient content of copper, 90% had a reduced content of manganese and chromium, resp. The content of toxic trace elements such as lead, mercury, and tin in the hair was within normal limits. A comparison of mineral content in people with and without Covid-19 revealed no significant differences. The determination of iodine supply revealed its deficiency in the majority of the examined in both subgroups.Against the background of the epidemic of coronavirus infection, among both subgroups of the examined, a hidden  Product Description popup.authors Ivanenko Lidiya Danylivna Piven Lyubov Valentynivna Romanenko Mariana Stanislavivna Sinyeok Lyudmila Leonidivna popup.nrat_date 2023-01-25 Close
