The specifics of the application of the sophisticated falsificationism of I. Lakatos in the history of sociology have been clarified. The premises for realizing the methodological and meta-theoretical potential of the post-positivist paradigm in sociology are revealed. The advantages and limitations of postpositivism in the multiparadigmatic context of social sciences are highlighted. The post-positivist conception of sociology as a scientific discipline is explained. Applications of postpositivism ideas in analytical-empirical, historical-theoretical and meta-theoretical sociological researches are systematized. The development trends and conceptual potential of the sociological conception of civil society, paradigms of transculturality in cultural sciences, "general methodology" of society analysis in social sciences by M. Kondratiev are determined.
