The purpose of the work is the scientific and methodological justification of changes to the existing system of career management of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The object of the study is the career management of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and promotion by military ranks. Research methods - a complex of general scientific and special methods used in the study of social processes, system analysis, methods of multivariate comparative analysis, synthesis. The methodological basis of the research work is the systematic and structural-functional approaches to the analysis of the existing system of career management of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the experience of the armies of NATO member states in this matter, and the regulatory and legal documents that determine the military service of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the transition to career management by military ranks. The relevance of the study is determined by the requirements of the time for the approximation of the human resources management system, career management to the standards of the armies of NATO member states and the definition of the main principle of career management - management through the assignment of a military rank. Based on the results of the research, changes were developed and proposed in the activities of commanders and personnel service specialists in the evaluation of military personnel and the adoption of a legally justified personnel decision on the basis of attestation regarding the assignment of a regular military rank and change of the status of a military personnel with corresponding changes in monetary maintenance.
