A thermoelectric device and a method of real-time registration of the heat flux density of the outer ocular surface (in the range from 0.01 to 50 mW/cm2 with a measurement error of ± 5%) have been developed. For the first time, the ocular heat flux density on the surface of the cornea was determined in healthy subjects and its dependence on the age of the person was established, namely: the density of the heat flow of the eye of a person aged 16-30 years was on average (8.6 ± 1.2) mW/cm2; 31-60 years old – (7.4 ± 1.1) mW/cm2; older than 60 years - (7.0 ± 1.0) mW/cm2. For the first time, it was established that the density of the ocular heat flux on the surface of the cornea changes depending on the state of blood filling of the choroid, in contrast to the temperature. A thermoelectric device for contact-controlled cooling of the eye has been developed (operating temperature range from + 5° C to + 40° C; accuracy of maintaining the temperature of the cooling surface ± 0.2° C). For the first time, it was established that after local cooling of the rabbit eye through the cornea, the heat flux density on the corneal surface increases, namely: 10 minutes after the cessation of cooling (temperature + 10° C; exposure for 10 minutes), the heat flux density on the corneal surface increased from (8 .3 ± 0.5) mW/cm2 to (9.4 ± 0.7) mW/cm2 (р<0.05). It was established for the first time that the heat flux density on the surface of the cornea of the rabbit eye depends on the contents of the vitreous cavity, so on the 3rd day after vitrectomy with silicone and gas tamponade, it decreased from (8.9 ± 0.6) mW/cm2 to (8.1 ± 0.6) mW/cm2 (p<0.05) and (8.0 ± 0.8) mW/cm2 (p<0.05), respectively. It was established on the in vivo intraocular bleeding model that the duration of bleeding during vitrectomy depends on the temperature of the irrigation fluid. Thus, in the experiment, the use of an irrigation solution with a temperature of 36°C made it possible to reduce the duration of intra Product Description popup.authors Berezovska Ekaterina O.
