On the basis of research conducted in 2020-2022, the dominant morphodynamic processes of the Western Region of Ukraine, which create geohazards and have a direct or indirect negative impact on human life and economic activity, were studied. The analysis of the distribution of these processes was carried out within the separate regions or river basins in the Ukrainian Carpathians, Pre-Carpathians, Volyn-Podillia and Volyn Polissia. The factors and conditions for the development of morphodynamic processes were analyzed in detail, and the ecological consequences of their manifestation were assessed. Considerable attention is paid to the natural and anthropogenically induced morphodynamic processes of Protected Areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians, urbanized and mining-industrial territories of Western Ukraine. The morphodynamics of ancient and modern fluvial processes were studied on the basis of field and remote methods, in particular, the morphodynamics of selected rivers of the Ukrainian Carpathians, Pre-Carpathians, and Volyn Polissia. The paleogeographic conditions, features and intensity of the development of ancient sandy eolian processes in Polissia within the Western Region of Ukraine have been discovered. Several reference sections of the Pleistocene loess-soil series were studied, based on which the role of paleocryogenic processes in the formation of the engineering and geological features of these rocks was assesed. A number of measures are proposed to reduce the environmental consequences of the development of dangerous morphodynamic processes.
