The purpose of the research is to carry out a general semiotic analysis of the translation strategy of the artistic discourse and the semantic features of the church discourse in Modern Greek. The study substantiates the interest in semiotics as a tool for translation research. A view of translation as a semiotic activity, which includes translation from the original language to the target language, is proposed. Both represent specific semiotic systems characterized by certain features.It is confirmed that the semiotic approach to literary translation is interdisciplinary and includes achievements and conclusions of philology, literature and general linguistics. Differences between languages ​​and cultures are found in the way people think, perceive the world, and interact. The original and translated texts, which are subject to practical analysis, show certain differences at the semantic, syntactic and pragmatic levels. One of the most significant conclusions of this study is that semiotics cannot answer all the problems of literary translation. The nature of literary language, contextual motivation and intertextuality are partially not taken into account in this approach and require further clarification. The foundations of translation semiotics are semantics, syntax and pragmatics. Further research on the semiotics of translation may consider the issue of pragmatic adaptation in the target language text and faithful translation of the author's intention. Prospects for further research into Greek-language church discourse include the study of the functioning of pluralis modestiae in the modern Greek language, both in church and religious texts as a whole, and in other functional styles.
