In this category of patients with comorbidities, like a cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, obesity, the activation of the sympathetic nervous system is already is a background and in COVID-19 patients leading to lesion of the heart and vessels. By itself COVID-19 leads to hypoxia and to an active immune response, also causing activation of the sympathetic nervous system. A lower left ventricular ejection fraction and moderate right ventricular dilatation occur in patients with hypertension who developed mild to moderate COVID-19 after an average of 1.2 ± 0.3 years. In patients with COVID-19, an increased ability of platelets to interact with monocytes, neutrophils and endotheliocytes was found, as evidenced by a tendency to increase the expression of P-selectin on platelets and the percentage of platelets bearing P-selectin on their surface, as well as a decrease of the regenerative capacity of the endothelium, as indicated by a certain decrease in the number of cells-precursors of endotheliocytes. The obtained data indicate that the war in Ukraine has a negative effect on the blood pressure level of patients with hypertension, complicates the possibility of optimizing their treatment, and also contributes to the increase of blood pressure in normotensive patients.
