Aim of work – develop scientific foundations of complex catalytic methods for converting glycerol and its derivatives (esters, ethers, carbonates, acetals, ketals, etc.) into so-called "low-tonnage products" that are interested as additives for motor fuels, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food industry. Research methods: potentiometry, spectrophotometry, thin-layer (TLC) and gas-liquid (GC) chromatography, mass spectrometry, UV-, NMR spectroscopy. Main factors determining catalytic activity of acid-modified H-CLI, H-Bent and H-Tr in reaction of glycerol (GL) with acetone (Ac) were founded. Main product is 2,2-dimethyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane. Catalytic properties of studied samples depend on preparation method, surface acidity, and volume of reaction mixture. Optimal conditions for obtaining H-CLI, H-Bent and H-Tr, which affect their catalytic activity in reaction of GL with benzaldehyde (BA), were founded. H-Bent samples are generally more active than H-CLI and H-Tr, also sulfocationite KU-2. In reaction of glycerol (GL) with cyclohexanone (CHone), it was found that bentonite more active among H-samples, unlike those modified with arenesulfonic acid, while trepel more active among AS-samples. By removing water formed during reaction of GL with pinacoline (PC), GL conversion can be increased to 80%. Five-membered (53%) and six-membered (47%) ketals are formed almost equally. Peculiarities tosylation of 2-substituted pyrimidine-4(3H)-ones containing a double bond in α-position of side chain were studied. It was established that reaction of 2-vinylpyrimidin-4(3H)-ones and benzoyl derivatives of 2-thiouracil with p-toluenesulfochloride is carried out selectively on oxygen atom of amide group with formation corresponding sulfonates.
