Ya. Yuriev of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Study object - methodical approaches to evaluation of anti-stress effects of physiologically active substances (PASs) on plants. Purpose - to create a test for evaluation of the anti-stress action of physiologically active substances, primarily new classes and groups, based on determination of their impact on growth, integral indicators of the development of oxidative damage and the functioning of antioxidant and osmoprotective systems under the influence of stressors on cereals of different genotypes during the early stages of development. Methods - physiological, biochemical, mathematical and statistical. Theoretical and practical results - Methods for investigations of resistance of cereal seedlings to hyperthermia and osmotic stress and assessment of susceptibility of cereals to physiologically active substances with anti-stress activities have been developed; models explaining the mechanisms of anti-stress effects of melatonin and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) on cereals have been justified. A possibility of using roots of intact seedlings as a model object for studying the mechanisms of anti-stress action of PASs by inhibitory method has been demonstrated. Scientific and methodological guidelines "Evaluation of Anti-Stress Effects of Physiologically Active Substances on Cereals" have been prepared. Novelty - the scientific and technical products are better than the existing in Ukraine analogs; the developed methodical approaches were shown to be highly efficient in elucidating the mechanisms of the anti-stress effects of melatonin and GABA on plants and allowed for the first time to investigate the effects of functional interactions of reactive oxygen species and calcium as signal mediators in the action of the specified compounds. Scope of implementation - the developed methods are intended for scientific studies of the nature and mechanisms of the action of physiologically active substances on plants at institutions of NAS of Ukraine and NAAS of Ukraine Product Description popup.authors Kokorev Oleksandr Ihorevych Riabchun Nataliia I.
