The aim of the study is to conduct neuropsychiatric, neurophysiological, neuropsychological, clinical and radiological studies to determine the cerebral effects after exposure to ionizing radiation under different exposure scenarios and their differences from chronic cerebrovascular disease (small vessel disease of the brain) in unexposed individuals. To evaluate the role of neurophysiological and structural changes in the white matter of the brain in the pathogenesis of radiation-associated brain damage. Methods: clinical, psychodiagnostic, neuropsychological, radiological, neurophysiological, statistical. In the Chernobyl clean-up workers signs of organic brain damage were found, with the predominant involvement of the cortico-limbic system of the left (dominant) hemisphere, a violation of information and cognitive processes of the brain against the background of functional hypofrontality. An excess of stress-related and somatoform disorders, mainly due to post-traumatic stress disorder, was found in the Chernobyl NPP workers who were under occupation. Signs of hyperactivation of the cortico-limbic system, mainly of the right (subdominant) hemisphere, physiological hyperexcitability of the main sensory systems, functional hypofrontality, which is most likely a psychophysiological response to prolonged psychoemotional stress, were revealed. MRI can detect early signs of structural changes in the white matter of the brain. The effect of IR under different radiation scenarios on the course of cerebral small vessel disease is realized in the form of more active processes of disorganization of the white matter of the brain.  Product Description popup.authors Antypchuk Kateryna Kolotylov Mykola M.
