It was established that the highest efficiency of 137Cs sorption is achieved when using a mixture of powdered bentonite and copper ferrocyanide in the proportion of 2 g/dm3 and 0.5 g/dm3. This concentration of sorbents ensured 100% removal of 137Cs from the model solution below the lower sensitivity limit of the spectrometer and complete discoloration of the solution and precipitation of suspended particles. The design of a settling tank-adsorber using a thin-layer module was developed, which provides optimal conditions for the deposition of sorbents; a hydrodynamic model of the settling tank-adsorber was developed; based on the results of the modeling of hydrodynamic processes in the adsorber settler, the optimal speed at the entrance to the settler was determined, which was 0.02–0.03 m/s. According to the results of the experimental studies, the optimal speed of filtration through polystyrene-zeolite loading was determined, which is Vf=3–5 m/h. The optimal parameters of reagents and filter materials for reliable removal of pollutants from natural surface waters are determined.
