Objective: To justify the theoretical foundations of designing the educational environment using augmented and virtual reality tools, and to develop a methodological system for its implementation in general secondary education institutions. Research Methods: Generalization of domestic and foreign experience in designing and using educational environments with AR/VR tools in GSEIs; analysis of basic terms and concepts; comparative analysis; selection of AR/VR technologies; study of practical experience in designing educational environments using AR/VR tools; designing a model of educational environment using AR/VR in GSEIs; processing obtained data using mathematical statistical methods. Throughout the research, the conceptual and terminological apparatus was defined; advantages, features, and risks of using AR/VR in the students' learning process were identified; classification features were justified and developed, and the classification of VR educational environments was carried out based on the "purpose" classification feature; advantages of using AR/VR technologies for students with special educational needs were determined. Principles and approaches were specified, pedagogical conditions and methods of applying AR/VR in educational practice were justified. Theoretical justification and development were carried out for the model of a digital educational environment using AR/VR; procedural model of teacher preparation for using AR/VR in student education; conceptual model of AR/VR usage in GSEIs; four main technologies for implementing AR to visualize educational content in printed educational literature were identified; a methodological system and forms, methods, and means of using AR/VR for student education were developed and justified.
