This method of evaluation of feed in milk production of 1 kg of dry matter of feed is the product of 3.1 MJ of energy of 1 liter of milk by the ratio of the gross energy of crude protein of the feed to the gross energy of crude fiber (%) in a diet with hemicellulose of the evaluated feed in the amount of 1/2 of the content of crude fiber (%) in it. The confirming factor of such assessment in the milk production of 1 kg of dry matter of feed is the cost of crude protein for the production of 1 liter of milk. Thus, when evaluating alfalfa in the early phase of budding without taking into account the hemicellulose content in the amount of 1/2 of the crude fiber content, milk production will be 5.9 liters from cows with a 17.0% crude fiber content in the diet, and the consumption of crude protein for the production of 1 liter of milk will be 43 g with a crude protein utilization rate of 69% for the synthesis of milk protein with a protein content of 3.0%. In a cow body such a level of use of raw protein of the green mass of alfalfa in metabolic processes is impossible. Crude alfalfa protein is found in the structure of cellulose and hemicellulose fibers.
