The object of research is the biotic and abiotic factors etiology of mammary gland disease in sheep; early prognostic signs of mastitis and lactopoiesis features; parameters of the Ascanian sheep breed exterior of the udder and the connection of these exterior features with the udder productivity; milk biochemical indicators, blood of sheep and the level of somatic cells in the physiological and pathological state of the udder. Research methods - systematic analysis and generalization, analytical, zootechnical, biochemical, biometric. Added information on abiotic factors in the etiology of mammary gland disease in sheep. Thus, the incidence of mastitis was only 2.7% in ewes of the Ascanian selection with the blood transfusion of fat-tailed rams, which is 3-6 times less than other studied genotypes. This was due to the shape of the udder and the constitutional characteristics of the animals. Probably, the level of multiple fertility is indirectly related to the frequency of mastitis. One of the biotic factors of the occurrence of mastitis in sheep of the Ascanian Fine-Fleeced breed and its crossbreeds is coccus microflora, that is, a certain level of its presence - 1×104 and more CFU. Infusing the blood of the specialized dairy East Frisian breed to the Ascanian Fine-Fleeced breed contributes to the more frequent occurrence of mastitis. This is probably also due to constitution and udder formation (lack of wool around the udder and on the legs, 7.5-11.1% greater udder girth). This provoked the contamination of milk in 1.5–2 months of lactation, which was indicated by a clear trend towards a greater presence of BHCP and E. coli bacteria 2–3 times – 533.3±593.0 and 33.3±40.8 against the corresponding indicators in the Ascanian Fine-Fleeced breed, 150.0±130.9 and 12.5±13.4 CFU.
