The purpose of the work is to create instructional materials on the harmonization of Ukrainian gemological terminology to internationally recognized terminology for use by gemologists of the State Gemological Centre of Ukraine (SGCU), subjects of entrepreneurial activity, other participants of the diamond and colored gems industry in Ukraine, specialized educational institutions, as well as for use by students of training courses of the SGCU on certification and expert evaluation of gemstones. The result should be a project of a scientific and methodological manual "Glossary of gemological terms. Diamonds and colored gemstones". The research method is literary and analytical. It is solved the problem of harmonizing the Ukrainian gemological terminology, which applies to gemstones, to the internationally recognized English-language terminology is revealed, the methodological principles of creating the manual are highlighted, an analytical review of English-language sources of relevant professional information is provided, and the results of the search and selection of terms for the purposes of creating the manual and the results of developing its structure are given . The novelty of the obtained results lies in the fact that the topic of harmonization of Ukrainian and international gemological terminology on the basis of advanced world practice has not previously been discussed in scientific works.
