It has been established that obesity, taking into account age and gender gastrointestinal cancer (GC) patients and menopausal status breast cancer (BrC) patients, is associated with an aggressive tumor microenvironment, in particular, with high level of superoxide radical (SR) generation, the number of tumor-associated adipocytes (TAAs), matrix metalloproteinases-2 and -9 (MMP-2 and -9) activity and ribonuclease (RNase) activity, and low levels of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity. These indicators are related to distant metastasis and/or patient survival, and are defined as promising markers of the cancer course of overweight patients.
