Purpose - based on the analysis of the state of the breeding base of the livestock industries of the Odesa region, to develop approaches, methods of improvement and use of local breeds, as well as to improve technological methods of processing raw materials to obtain competitive livestock products. Research methods - general zootechnical methods for assessing animals by origin, development, productivity, breeding methods, interior characteristics, DNA markers, biometric data processing, economic calculations for the effectiveness of the research, taking into account the actual and proposed environmental conditions for feeding and keeping animals. The influence of various genetic and phenotypic factors on the productivity of animals of different species in production conditions was investigated. The scientific novelty is the development of new and improvement of existing methods of livestock production by recommending new combinations of animals of different breeds, animal selection with regard to DNA marker selection, optimisation of protein nutrition, and revision of the feed base in dairy farming with regard to global warming. The economic efficiency of the work is to increase the level of productivity of farm animals by 10.0-25.0% and the profitability of production by 5.0-30.0%.
