In accordance with the terms of reference, as a result of the contract, an expert assessment of the operational event that occurred at Khmelnytska NPP Unit 2 was carried out using modern methods of calculation and analysis of structural elements of steam turbine flow parts.
The conclusion was made about the most probable cause of damage to the 5th stage diaphragm of the left flow of the HPC of KhNPP Unit 2, namely, the occurrence of extreme phenomena in the flow part, which were caused by the following reasons, especially in the case of their simultaneous action transfer of the diaphragm operation to non-stationary variable load, transitions from normal load to critical states, which led to accumulated fatigue damage of the diaphragm metal, which could lead to destruction much later and at a pressure drop across the diaphragm below the nominal value.
